The four black men captured at Hatteras were transported to New York harbor along with the rest of the prisoners. They remained at Governor's Island with the hospitalized men that were too sick to be transported to Fort Warren. They were sent to Fort Warren for transport to Hampton Roads along with the soldiers still left in the hospital on Governor's Island.
